The Four Cornerstones of FacTSTM
The FacTS Base System provides the foundation for operating a fully
integrated enterprise-wide Environmental Information System. The Base
System consists of the cornerstones of your business: Business
Practices, Inventory, Material Specification, and Operational
Organization.
Business Practices
Your business practices are the first cornerstone. Here we look to
identify existing policies and procedures, roles and responsibilities,
communication systems, training programs and other systems and
programs. We use the existing strengths of your current processes and
evaluate opportunities for process improvement. Our fundamental premise
is that by reviewing the existing environmental reporting functions,
all operational areas will improve through the greater emphasis on
measurable goals and process improvements.

Operational Organization
Your organizational structure will be replicated in the FacTS
application, from both a corporate and a physical identity. The
corporate structure insures that we gather the data according to the
business information flow needs. Whether this is based on a business
unit, regional, national or geographic structure, the FacTS program can
quickly change screen labels and data entry screens to match your
existing corporate structure and information flow.
The physical structure reflects the manufacturing
process for the various facilities using FacTS. Here the level of
detail you want out of the system will be determined by how much
information you put into the system. FacTS can track using a high level
Black Box approach or give you the capability of replicating your
manufacturing process flow.

Inventory
Identifying the source, distribution, locations and use of the raw
materials within your facilities and processes is another cornerstone
of the FacTS system. We need to understand your part number system,
nomenclature and structure. FacTS has the ability to handle a wide
variety of structures from family and hierarchy to simple sequential
systems.

Material Specification
Material Specification is the final cornerstone of building an
enterprise-wide solution. FacTS takes the manufacturer specifications
for all direct and indirect materials required for safety and
regulatory reporting requirements, such as specific gravity, flash
points and safe-handling instructions, linking the material
specification and inventory starts building the bridge between the
operational system and the environmental information management system.

MSDS Management
The FacTS Base System allows you to input and retrieve MSDS
information, which it stores in these formats:
- Verbatim text
- Scanned image
- Coded (using table reference codes)
- A combination of scanned and coded
Because you can provide aliases for product and
ingredient "trade names," information retrieval is faster.
Through the power of the relational database, the
information entered can be accessed throughout FacTS. MSDS information
can be extracted in over 200 reports, based on criteria such as
constituents, location, use, disposal, hazard ranking, and employee
exposure.

Employee Records
The Base System also makes it easy for users to create, modify, delete,
or retrieve information about employees, job classifications, and
employment records.

System Security
Finally, the easy-to-use system security and utility functions allow
the complete self administration of the software.
