The MSDS Management Suite is a cornerstone of the
FacTS
software and provides an efficient, expandable system for the creation,
distribution, and storage of Material Safety Data Sheets, including
OSHA Hazard Communication. FacTS can extract MSDS information in
over 200 reports, based on criteria such as constituents, location,
use, disposal, hazard ranking, and employee exposure.

MSDS Authoring
Chemical producers have unique customer and regulatory
requirements. For that reason, a special solution
is needed for data processing for Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs).
This feature is designed to meet the regulatory
requirements of a number of jurisdictions, both
domestic and foreign. The requirements of the ANSI X12 format and the
EEC needs have been used in the development of this
system.

Document Delivery
Document Delivery automates much of the work in distributing
MSDSs to clients, whether they're internal or
external to the company. Once the system has been flagged that an MSDS
is required, FacTS prints a user-defined, language-
and region-specific form letter and appropriate
MSDS for the customer.

MSDS Algorithm
This feature enables users to create and populate
an MSDS from ingredient- or characteristic-based
rules, and companies can associate various standard phrases with their
MSDS at the chemical ingredient
level. Users have control over the algorithms
that assign priority to these standard phrases when one or more is
applicable to an MSDS.

MSDS Multilingual
This feature enables hazardous material manufacturers
to produce MSDSs in multiple languages and provide
the proper sheets in the appropriate languages to each purchaser to
whom they ship these materials. In most cases, the
MSDS is created/entered by users in the language
of the company, and the system generates or prints
the MSDS in the language of the customer receiving the MSDS.

MSDS Template Design
Template enables users to choose exactly which
data elements to maintain in their MSDS. Unlike
the MSDS stored in the FacTS Base System, this feature opens the format
and content of the MSDS to meet users' requirements,
including foreign languages. From the ground
up, users have control over each field that appears in the MSDS. After
the building blocks of each data sheet have been
defined, they can create standard formats, known
as templates. Templates control the output and
appearance of the MSDS. Because companies need to send their MSDS to
locations with varying requirements for labeling
or formats, they can create and store more than
one template in the system. The template output can use any of many
standard formats like HTML, Microsoft® Word, and
Rich Text Format.
